Free online invoice generator

This is a straightforward invoice maker for anyone who needs to bill a client today. Fill in your business details, add the work you did, and the invoice takes shape next to you as you type. When it looks right, download it as a PDF or print it. Nothing is charged, nothing is locked behind an account, and no part of the invoice is sent anywhere.

It suits freelancers, consultants, contractors, agencies, online sellers and small businesses who invoice a handful of clients a month and do not need accounting software to do it. Because currency, tax naming and tax rates are all configurable, the same tool works for a VAT invoice in the UK, a GST invoice in India or Australia, a sales tax invoice in the US, and plain untaxed invoices anywhere else.

How to create an invoice online

  1. Enter your business details Your name, address and contact details go at the top of the invoice. Upload a logo if you have one. These details carry over when you start your next invoice.
  2. Add your customer Fill in who is being billed. Only a name is really needed; the rest is optional.
  3. Check the invoice number and dates A number is generated for you and the due date defaults to 30 days after the invoice date. Change either if you need to.
  4. List what you are charging for Add a line for each product or service with a quantity and a rate. Quantities can be decimals, so half a day is 0.5.
  5. Add tax, a discount or extra charges Choose one tax rate for the whole invoice or a different rate per line, name it VAT, GST or anything else, and add shipping or fees if they apply.
  6. Add payment details, notes and terms Tell your customer how to pay you and when payment is due.
  7. Download or print Pick a template and accent colour, then download the PDF or print the invoice.

  • Professional templates. Three layouts — classic, modern and minimal — that switch without touching your data.
  • Real PDF output. A4, correct margins, multi-page when your invoice is long, with the table heading repeated on each page.
  • Multiple currencies. Fourteen currencies formatted the way each one is normally written.
  • Tax that matches your country. Rename the tax, set one rate or per-line rates, and see it calculated on the discounted amount.
  • Discounts and extra charges. Percentage or fixed discounts, plus any number of named charges such as shipping or a service fee.
  • Built for phones. Full editing on a small screen with a preview you can flip to at any time.
  • Privacy by design. The invoice is assembled in your browser. There is no server holding your customer list.

What should an invoice include?

A usable invoice — one your client's finance team can pay without emailing you back — normally contains all of the following:

  • Your business details: trading name, address, phone, email and, if you are registered, your VAT or tax ID.
  • Your customer's details: company name, contact and billing address.
  • An invoice number: unique and sequential, so both sides can reference it.
  • The invoice date and the due date, or the payment terms that set it.
  • A description of each product or service, with quantity and unit price.
  • The subtotal, any discount, the tax charged and the rate it was charged at.
  • The total amount due, stated clearly and in the right currency.
  • Payment information: bank details, a payment link, or whatever method you accept.
  • Notes or terms: late payment terms, thanks, or anything the client should know.

Tax invoice requirements differ by country. If you are registered for VAT, GST or sales tax, check what your tax authority requires on the face of the invoice before you send it.

Frequently asked questions

What is an invoice?

An invoice is a document a seller sends to a buyer requesting payment for goods or services. It records what was supplied, how much is owed, when payment is due and how to pay. It is also the record both businesses keep for their accounts.

How do I create an invoice?

Enter your business details and your customer's details, add a line for each product or service with its quantity and rate, set any tax or discount, then download the invoice as a PDF or print it. The whole process takes a couple of minutes on this page.

Is the invoice generator free?

Yes. Every feature is free, including PDF download, all three templates, logo upload and saving invoices in your browser. There is no account, no trial and no payment step. The site is supported by advertising placed around the tool, never inside your invoice.

Can I download my invoice as a PDF?

Yes. Select Download PDF and choose Save as PDF as the destination when your browser's print dialog opens. This produces a sharp, text-based A4 PDF rather than a screenshot, so the text stays selectable and the file stays small. Long invoices flow onto extra pages automatically.

Can I add my company logo?

Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG file in the business section. Large images are resized inside your browser so they do not bloat the page, and the logo is stored on your device only.

Can I add VAT or GST?

Yes. Choose one rate for the whole invoice or a separate rate for each line, then rename the tax to VAT, GST, Sales Tax or whatever your country uses. The name and rate appear on the invoice next to the amount.

Can I add a discount?

Yes, as a percentage of the subtotal or as a fixed amount, and you can rename it on the invoice. Tax is calculated after the discount is applied, which is the usual treatment.

Can I create invoices on my phone?

Yes. On small screens the editor and the preview swap with a single control, the action bar stays fixed at the bottom, and the same PDF and print options are available.

Do I need an account?

No. Every feature — including PDF download — works without signing up. There is an optional free account if you want the invoices you save to follow you between your phone and your computer; if you never create one, nothing you type leaves your browser.

Where are my invoices stored?

In your browser's local storage, on the device you are using. Your current invoice is kept automatically as you type, and Save invoice keeps a copy in the saved list. Clearing your browsing data, using private mode, or switching device will remove them — so download the PDF for anything you need to keep. If you sign in to a free account, saved invoices are also copied to your account so they are available on your other devices.
